Falmouth was founded in 1694 and named after its sister town in England. Bartholomew Gosnold, the man who named Cape Cod, landed upon these shores. Before Falmouth was incorporated it was known as the town of Succonessett which means "place where the black clam is found." Falmouth has the most shore and coastline of all the Cape towns. Martha's Vineyard is only 5 miles away from Falmouth and in great view from shore.

Parking is $10 daily at Menauhant and Surf Drive Beaches and $20 at Old Silver Beach. Beach stickers are sold 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekends starting in June and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through the season at Surf Drive Beach. $20 daily for RVs. Non-resident stickers are $125 a year, $80 for four weeks, $70 for three weeks, $60 for two weeks, and $50 for one week. |
