Along the Cape Cod Canal, Bourne is the entrance to Cape Cod. It's close by to Plymouth, other Southeast Massachusetts attractions, Falmouth and the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. The Cape Cod Canal is a great place for bike riding and watching boats go by. The nations oldest store known as the Aptucxet Trading Post is part of Bourne. Bourne borders Buzzards Bay and Cape Cod Bay, and is a great town for people interested in beaches with calm water, bike riding, and easy accessibility to many areas.

Parking Information
Stickers : Seasonal beach stickers are $10 for residents, $30 for visitors. Stickers are available at the Natural Resources Offices, Town Hall, Buzzards Bay.

- Cape Cod Canal: The first major Cape Cod landmark thousands of visitors see annually when coming to Cape Cod. This Natural Historic Civ
il Engineering Landmark 480 feet across, is the widest sea canal in the world. With scenic overlooks and multi-use trails on either side, it is a popular tourist destination. The channel was opened in 1914 and goes 17.4 miles up the coast. With a changing tide every 6 hours, it is the only waterway with 4 daily high tides.
- Bourne Railroad Bridge: This bridge running over the cape cod canal was built in 1934. Before inception goods traveling off-Cape were unloaded and stacked on small rafts to cross the canal. The bridge runs 545 feet across the waterway and stands 135 feet high when boats travel underneath it.
- Herring Run: This run fills every spring with herring making their way upstream to produce in inland fresh water. Town residents would catch their cache of fish here years ago. It is now a recreation area with picnic facilities. It is Located in Bourne off Route 6.
